A large NSW Government agency is seeking an ICT Specialist to drive innovation, governance and proof-of-concept initiatives across multiple business areas in the Data and AI space. Sitting within the Department of Digital Innovation, this role is at the forefront of shaping NSW’s AI and data strategy. This is a unique opportunity to influence AI strategy, build awareness programs, and help NSW realise the potential of cutting-edge technologies like Microsoft Copilot, Azure and AI-powered solutions. This role requires 50% in office.

Responsibilities

  • Expertise in emerging technologies – particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), automation and digital platforms.
  • Expertise in developing and implementing digital transformation roadmaps.
  • Strong understanding of governance frameworks including NSW AI (AIAF) and NSW data governance, assurance, compliance, and ethical standards aligned with NSW Government policies.
  • Experience in designing and implementing digital solutions that enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills: working with ICT, legal, privacy, procurement and risk teams.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Project coordination and assurance oversight including risk evaluation and benefit realisation.
  • Support designing policies to address data quality, security, lifecycle management and ethical use.

Essential Criteria

  • Qualifications: Tertiary degree in IT, Computer Science, or related discipline; certifications in digital, AI, or emerging technologies preferred.
  • AIAF (Artificial Intelligence Assessment Framework) experience
  • AI experience, i.e governance
  • Microsoft services experience (Azure, Power Apps, Copilot, SharePoint etc.)
