About the Role

As an Associate Data Scientist, you will contribute to high-impact AI and analytics initiatives that support Suncorp's strategic goals. Working within the AI and Data Science Centre of Excellence, you will design, develop, and deliver advanced models that integrate into business processes at scale. This role offers the opportunity to grow your technical depth while influencing how data science is applied across the organisation.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand challenges and translate requirements into practical data science solutions that deliver measurable value
  • Design and deliver complex analytical models, algorithms, and insights that support decision-making across multiple business units
  • Apply machine learning and advanced analytics techniques to solve complex technical problems in a commercial environment
  • Contribute to projects delivered through agile ways of working, providing incremental value throughout the delivery lifecycle
  • Review and validate data, models, and analytical outputs to ensure quality, accuracy, and appropriate risk management
  • Share technical knowledge and provide guidance to team members, contributing to a strong and collaborative data science community

What You'll Bring

  • Advanced expertise in one or more data science or machine learning disciplines, with experience delivering models into production environments
  • Proficiency in applying multivariate predictive analytics techniques such as generalised linear models, tree-based models, NLP, or gradient boosting
  • Experience using data science tools and programming languages such as Python or equivalent for analysis, modelling, and automation
  • Understanding of Generative AI concepts, including prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, or agent-based approaches
  • Ability to translate complex analytical concepts into clear, actionable insights for technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • A commitment to continuous learning, adapting skills to evolving data science technologies and practices
