About the role 

We are seeking an exceptional Senior Software Engineer to join the AI & Platform Services (AIPS) team, where you'll lead the development of AI-driven solutions that power SEEK's global platform. Our team delivers mission-critical AI-centric services that operate at massive scale, including intelligent search capabilities, sophisticated behavioral tracking systems, personalized recommendations, advanced candidate matching algorithms, comprehensive ontological services, and cutting-edge personalization engines.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll take ownership of some of the most fascinating and complex technical challenges SEEK faces, driving architectural decisions and leading end-to-end solution delivery at the intersection of software engineering, data science, and artificial intelligence. You'll operate with significant autonomy to design, architect, and deliver robust Data Engineering solutions, while leading the seamless deployment of Machine Learning models developed by our world-class Data Science team and establishing best practices for security, performance monitoring, and system reliability.

Responsibilities 

• Design, architect, build, test, deploy, and maintain highly scalable AI-driven software solutions that align with SEEK's strategic technology vision and support millions of users globally.
• Champion best practices in code quality, system reliability, and performance optimization across the AI platform, establishing standards that ensure seamless operation at scale.
• Partner closely with staff engineers to design and implement robust, consistent, and future-proof systems that support complex AI workloads while maintaining high availability.
• Take ownership of troubleshooting complex production issues, participate in on-call rotations, and provide operational support to ensure rapid issue resolution and seamless service delivery.
• Lead onboarding for new team members, provide technical mentorship, and foster a collaborative, inclusive environment that promotes knowledge sharing and professional growth.
• Champion a positive, psychologically safe team culture that prioritizes well-being, encourages constructive feedback, and drives innovation through continuous learning and collaborative problem-solving.

Skills and experience 

• 10+ years of hands-on software development experience with proven proficiency in backend development and strong experience in Python.
• Practical experience with Databricks or similar big data platforms, including data processing, analytics workflows, and collaborative data science environments for large-scale operations.
• Deep understanding of AWS services and modern cloud infrastructure, including experience with cloud-native architectures, containerization, microservices, and scalable distributed systems.
• Demonstrated experience designing and maintaining robust data pipelines and ETL processes, with strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with modern data platforms and distributed computing environments.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, infrastructure as code, and modern deployment strategies to ensure reliable and efficient software delivery.
• Experience working with ML models in production environments, including model deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management, with understanding of MLOps practices and AI/ML system architecture.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to break down complex technical challenges, identify root causes, and develop innovative solutions while considering scalability and performance.
