Our Opportunity

Work Location: Perth - Fortescue's Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Roster: Monday to Friday

The key mission of this role will be to drive the development of data pipelines for AI solutions & systems that transform our master data management, reliability and work management functions. Success in this mission is the delivery of measurable improvements in the cost, reliability and productivity of assets across our integrated operations.

 

This role is suited to experienced individual contributors who deliver autonomously in a range of settings. It would suit candidates coming from a range of backgrounds, including asset management systems, reliability engineering, or data engineering with experience in asset management data systems. Regardless of background, the right candidate will bring a strong ability to work with imperfect, high-volume operational and engineering data, and develop robust data pipelines for AI-enabled solutions. This role will include working in forward-deployed setting, accelerating the provision of data during product development in multi-disciplinary teams, and also in systems engineering teams as products mature through the lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Owning the design, build, deployment and support of data pipelines that support AI and machine learning systems across the product development lifecycle
  • Integrating a range of asset management data sources including delay accounting, master data, reliability and equipment sensors into reliable data products using ETL and ELT methods as required
  • Designing and evolving scalable data models that integrate requirements across multiple systems
  • Building robust data quality, monitoring and resilience mechanisms for operational environments where safety, cost and production are imperative
  • Act as a senior technical contributor, delivering complex work as part of forward-deployed development squads and systems engineering teams
  • Providing technical leadership on data engineering design decisions and contributing to data platform standards and patterns
Qualifications and Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data systems or data visualisation within the asset management domain
  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering, computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience developing complex data systems in heavy industrial environments
  • Experience in delivering data products and workflows using SQL and Python
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary teams, particularly business and technology
  • Ability to translate complex data sources and technical issues into requirements
