We’re looking for a visionary leader to join Westpac Institutional Bank as Head of Data, Digital & AI (CTT). In this pivotal role, you will drive the adoption and integration of advanced data science, digital solutions, and AI capabilities across Commodities and Trade Finance. Your mission: transform trade finance workflows, document processing, and working capital analytics—delivering data-driven insights and AI-powered solutions that create tangible value for clients and the business.

About Westpac Institutional Bank (WIB)
WIB delivers sophisticated financial solutions to corporate, institutional, and government clients across Australia and globally. The Data, Digital & AI (DDAI) function within WIB is the engine of digital transformation, enabling smarter decision-making, seamless customer experiences, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Data, Digital & AI team within CTT, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
  • Drive adoption of AI and digital solutions across commodity and trade finance workflows, including document processing, payment reconciliation, and trading analytics.
  • Define and execute the DDAI strategy for CTT, aligned with enterprise priorities and risk frameworks.
  • Translate complex trade finance challenges into actionable DDAI-driven solutions.
  • Advise senior executives on opportunities, risks, and strategic implications of digital and AI initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with Westpac’s AI Risk Management Standard (AIRMS) and promote transparency, fairness, and accountability.
  • Monitor model performance and manage operational and regulatory risk while uplifting digital and AI literacy across teams.

What do I need?

  • Deep understanding of trade finance and commodity products, client needs, and risk frameworks.
  • Proven leadership in implementing data, digital, and AI solutions within institutional banking (10+ years).
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience in Westpac Institutional Bank or similar environment is essential.
  •  Demonstrated ability to drive cultural change and deliver strategic outcomes.
