About the West Region Delivery Team

The West Region Delivery Team (WRDT) is delivering one of Sydney Water’s most significant infrastructure programs, with a circa $2bn pipeline of works over 10 years.

One of our core strategic priorities is to improve how work is done, using data, automation and artificial intelligence (AI) to drive efficiency and value. This is a rare opportunity to drive and embed automation at scale across a mature and complex delivery environment.

About the opportunity

In this role you will work across the program, partnering closely with business and technical stakeholders to identify, design and implement practical automation and AI enabled solutions that reduce manual effort, streamline workflows and uplift how work is delivered.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys getting close to the work, understanding how processes really operate, and turning that insight into scalable, future-ready automation and AI use cases.

  • Analyse complex business processes and identify opportunities for automation and optimisation.

  • Partner with business SMEs to document current and future-state processes, with a strong focus on reducing manual and repetitive work.

  • Design, build and implement robust, reusable automation solutions.

  • Work hands-on with tools such as Python, SQL, Power BI and VBA and emerging AI tools to design and deliver automation initiatives.

  • Conduct cost-benefit and feasibility assessments to prioritise initiatives with the greatest impact.

  • Develop documentation, standards and training materials to support adoption and knowledge transfer

What you’ll bring to the team

You are an experienced technical or automation analyst who thrives in complex, fast-moving environments and enjoys working at the intersection of business, data and engineering.  You’ll bring:

  • Strong analytical thinking and the ability to quickly understand how work actually gets done.

  • Hands-on experience delivering automation solutions in real business environments.

  • Well-developed stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

  • A genuine interest in automation, AI and data as drivers of business improvement.

  • Extensive experience in Python, VBA and/or other similar tools.

  • Experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI

  • Experience working within construction, engineering or major infrastructure environments is highly regarded

  • A tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business Analytics, or equivalent practical experience.

 Why join WRDT

  • Work on a long-term, complex infrastructure program with real scale and impact.

  • Influence how automation and AI is embedded across a large and evolving digital ecosystem.

  • You will have end-to-end ownership, from identifying opportunities through to building and implementation.

  • Deliver solutions that genuinely improve efficiency, reduce cost and create value for our client
