  • Ensure compliance with relevant data and AI-related laws and frameworks (e.g. Australian Privacy Act, ISO standards, AI governance principles).

Selection Criteria

Personal qualities:

  • Ability to maintain high integrity and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively in teams or committees across the organisation to achieve shared goals.
  • Strong attention to detail and effective time management skills, including the ability to prioritise workload and distinguish between what is critical and what is not.
  • Exceptional oral, written and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and manage relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, together with the aptitude to interact with both technical and non-technical groups.
  • Proven experience in planning and delivering outcomes for complex programs, services, and projects.
  • Proven ability to lead change and innovation, fostering adaptability and a culture of continuous improvement.

Knowledge and skills:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or other relevant field.
  • Demonstrated experience leading data or AI initiatives in complex organisations.
  • Experience embedding data governance, data architecture, and data platform technologies in a complex organisation.
  • Practical knowledge of AI/ML tools, techniques, and frameworks, including building and utilising AI models and integrating them into business workflows.
  • Experience in the research, medical, tertiary education or government sectors would be highly regarded.
  • Familiarity with ethical frameworks for AI (e.g. OECD, EU AI Act, Australian AI Ethics Principles).
