At LeavePlus, we’re committed to building data-driven products that make leave management simple, fair and accessible for everyone. This is a parental leave contract to build valuable experience and play an important role in a data team that directly improves member experience and operational efficiency. We’re looking for a collaborative, curious Data Scientist to join a cross-functional team working on high-impact analytics. You’ll help turn complex data into clear insights, reliable models and measurable business outcomes.

What you’ll do

  • Drive insight-led decisions: Analyse large, messy datasets to identify trends, opportunities and risks that will shape product and business strategy.

  • Build and deploy models: Develop, validate and productionise predictive models and scoring systems (e.g. classification, time-to-event, recommendation) with a focus on reliability and fairness.

  • Collaborate across teams: Partner with product, engineering and operations to define problems, design experiments, instrument telemetry and translate results into actionable roadmaps.

  • Communicate with impact: Present clear, evidence-based recommendations to stakeholders using visualisations and narrative that make complex analysis accessible.

  • Improve processes and standards: Champion reproducible workflows, robust testing, monitoring and documentation for data and models.

What you’ll bring:

  • Strong analytical and statistical thinking, with experience in applied modelling and experiment design.

  • Skilled in Python or R and experience with data tools (SQL, pandas, scikit-learn, or equivalent).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Azure, Azure: Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse Analytics, Machine Learning, HDInsight, Cosmos DB, DevOps

  • Experience working with large, structured and unstructured datasets and familiarity with feature engineering and data pipelines.

  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical colleagues and influence product decisions.

  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to ethical, inclusive data practices.

What you’ll need to have:

  • 3+ years’ experience in a data science, applied research or analytics role (or equivalent).

  • Practical experience building and validating predictive models, and deploying them into production or near-production environments.

  • Strong SQL skills and experience with at least one programming language for data analysis (Python preferred).

  • Familiarity with modern data engineering or MLOps concepts (versioning, CI/CD, monitoring) is desirable.

Why join us?

  • Play a key role in a mission-driven company where your work directly improves people’s lives.

  • Work in a supportive, inclusive team that values curiosity, learning and collaboration.

  • Opportunities for professional development, training and time to pursue technical improvements.

  • A culture that celebrates diversity and encourages new ideas where your perspective will be valued.
