What you’ll do

As a Data Scientist, you will drive the enhancement of our product data, personalization, and customer experience by building and optimizing data-driven solutions on the Woolworths supermarkets website and app. You will work as a hands-on, autonomous owner of your projects while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure their success. 

Your work will be instrumental in improving digital experiences across our web and app platforms. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and optimise machine learning models and GenAI data solutions for product data enrichment

  • Design and implement content scoring algorithms to enhance the quality, accuracy and relevance of product data

  • Implement and monitor data quality checks, load volumes, and anomaly detection to support operational efficiency and model performance

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to understand their data needs and deliver solutions that drive measurable value

  • Contribute to MLOps and model development, ensuring robust monitoring and continuous improvement of deployed models

What you’ll bring

We are looking for a Data Scientist with hands-on experience and a pragmatic approach to translating complex data science methodologies into impactful business solutions.

Key Qualifications and Responsibilities:

  • 3+ years of experience in the Data Science field as a hands-on practitioner

  • Strong technical expertise in machine learning, deep learning, and GenAI, with hands-on experience developing and deploying models in cloud environments (e.g., GCP, Vertex AI, BigQuery)

  • Experience in end-to-end machine learning model development, from data processing to evaluation

  • Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn)

  • Familiar with MLOps and CI/CD pipelines

  • Experience working with GCP services or other Cloud providers

  • A strong sense of ownership and initiative, with the ability to drive data science projects from ideation to execution

  • Business acumen and stakeholder management skills
