Ready to turn GenAI ideas into real world impact?
Temple and Webster is where design meets technology. As Australia’s number one online retailer for furniture and homewares, we are constantly reimagining how customers discover, shop and connect online.

We are expanding our AI team and are looking for an AI Implementation Engineer to help build practical GenAI powered tools that are embedded directly into how the business operates.

This role sits firmly in the engineering space. It is ideal for someone with an engineering or software background who has moved into GenAI and enjoys building real solutions, not just experiments or demos.

Across the market, we are seeing strong GenAI capability emerge from organisations such as major banks, large retailers, and digital first businesses. Many of the best AI Engineers today have come from software engineering or data backgrounds and learned GenAI by building. That is exactly the profile we are looking for.

You do not need a traditional machine learning background. What matters is your ability to engineer, integrate, and ship GenAI solutions that work in production.

You will be mentored and supported by the AI team, while being trusted to own problems, spot opportunities, and build solutions end to end.

What you will be doing
  • Build and launch GenAI powered tools across the business
  • Prototype quickly and turn ideas into production ready solutions
  • Partner with teams to identify automation and agent based opportunities
  • Design AI solutions that remove manual work rather than create more
  • Build and embed AI agents into core operational systems
  • Stay close to the code using Python, scripting, APIs and cloud services
  • Continuously improve and scale existing AI systems to meet performance needs
  • Contribute to how GenAI is responsibly and effectively used across the company
  • Collaborate closely with the AI team to stay current with new tools and approaches
What we are looking for
  • Around 1 year of hands on experience building GenAI solutions in real environments
  • 3 plus years of software engineering experience using Python, SQL and scripting
  • Strong engineering fundamentals and comfort working across code, data and APIs
  • Experience deploying GenAI solutions into production systems
  • Cloud experience, ideally with Google Cloud Platform
  • Familiarity with MLOps style workflows and operating AI systems over time
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with a bias toward building and shipping
  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field
Bonus points
  • Experience with PHP
  • Background in data or analytics with a move into GenAI and AI engineering
Why you will enjoy it here
  • A tight knit AI team with real ownership and influence
  • Hybrid working and a beautiful St Peters office
  • Thursday happy hour in our games room with pool table and arcade games
  • Catered lunches three days a week plus subsidised barista coffee
  • Paid birthday leave and generous parental leave
  • Daily mindfulness sessions
  • Staff discounts across the entire Temple and Webster range
  • An ambitious, grounded culture that values practical innovation
