About the role

Reporting to the Chief Digital Officer, this role is about building foundations that last, not running one-off programs. You will shape how data and AI are prioritised, governed and delivered across the bank, working closely with Technology, Digital, Transformation, Business leaders and the Executive Data & AI Committee.

You'll balance ambition with pragmatism, delivering value incrementally while embedding strong risk, privacy and ethical guardrails in line with APRA and Australian regulatory expectations.

• A clear, enterprise-wide data and AI strategy aligned to IMB's business priorities and member outcomes
• Prioritisation of high-value use cases across customer insights, risk, operations and decision-making
• Embedded governance across the full lifecycle from idea to production to retirement
• Sustainable in-house capability, supported by partners where appropriate
• A multidisciplinary team of data engineers, analysts, scientists and architects
• A modern data and analytics ecosystem across AWS, Microsoft (including Power BI/Azure) and IBM DataStage

What you'll bring

• Senior leadership experience building data, analytics and AI capabilities within financial services or regulated environments
• Strong technical grounding across cloud platforms, data engineering, analytics and machine learning
• Deep understanding of data risk, privacy and AI governance, with the confidence to advise executives on trade-offs and investment decisions
• A collaborative, pragmatic leadership style — able to influence, simplify and deliver
• A commitment to ethical, responsible and transparent use of data and AI
