Forwood Safety is on a mission to make every shift safer and every workplace fatality-free. We build enterprise SaaS solutions that help organisations identify, manage and eliminate critical risks before serious incidents occur. Our engineering team embraces modern, AI-assisted development workflows to deliver high-quality software faster without compromising safety, security, or reliability.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will help design, build, and maintain high-impact front-end and back-end systems while using AI co-pilot tooling as a core part of your daily workflow. You will own end-to-end feature delivery across our React/Remix + TypeScript front end and NestJS/AWS microservices back end, while helping shape how AI is used across the engineering team to improve velocity, quality, and consistency.

This is a 100% remote role based in Australia, working closely with teams in AU time zones.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Design, build, and ship high-impact features across React/Remix front-end applications and NestJS/Node.js back-end services.
  • Develop and maintain secure, scalable REST and GraphQL APIs and microservices deployed on AWS.
  • Own features end-to-end, from design and implementation through to production release and ongoing optimisation.
  • Use AI co-pilot tools (e.g. Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf) for code generation, refactoring, test creation, and documentation.
  • Develop and share effective prompt patterns and AI best practices to improve team productivity and code quality.
  • Validate and secure AI-assisted code through testing, reviews, and static analysis.
  • Write and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests (Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright/Cypress).
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines with automated quality gates, security scanning, and rollback strategies.
  • Mentor engineers on strong engineering fundamentals and effective AI-driven development workflows.
  • Stay current with emerging AI tools and identify opportunities to improve delivery through AI-enabled solutions.
Requirements:
  • 5–7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong full-stack capability.
  • Advanced experience with React, TypeScript, and modern frameworks such as Remix or Vite.
  • Strong back-end experience with Node.js/NestJS and microservice architectures.
  • Hands-on, daily use of AI co-pilot tools (Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf or similar). Proven ability to validate, test, and secure AI-assisted code.
  • Solid experience with AWS (ECS, Lambda, RDS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch).
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Bitbucket Pipelines).
  • A production mindset with a strong focus on maintainability, security, and scalability.
  • Excellent communication skills and a genuine interest in mentoring others.
  • Based in Australia and able to collaborate effectively across AU time zones.

If you're excited to combine solid engineering practices with AI-assisted workflows, and to use that capability to help prevent workplace fatalities, we'd love to hear from you.

This role is 100% remote but must be based in Australia.
