Where the team fits in

This role sits in the CX AI Experience team. CX AI Experience is part of the Consumer portfolio within the Product and Audience group that drives audience experiences on realestate.com.au. When you join Product and Audience teams, you join a cross-disciplinary group of high achievers representing product, design, delivery, engineering, analytics, sales, go-to-market and marketing that is supported by Global Technology, PR, Communications, Legal, Finance and P&C.

The CX AI Experience team believes that the property journey should be quick, easy and stress free. They do this by applying AI/ML technologies in products that are used by the largest property audiences in Australia. The team is responsible for creating Recommendations, AI Agents, and ML Models.

What the role is all about

  • Contribute to the design and development of machine learning solutions for REA.
  • Apply new AI/ML technologies and techniques in products used by over 12 million users.
  • Build and maintain recommendation and prediction models using techniques like deep learning, collaborative filtering, regression and decision trees.
  • Help develop and deploy ML pipelines for both batch and real-time use cases.
  • Work with cloud-based tools and frameworks such as Python, Docker, and GCP or AWS.
  • Participate in model evaluation and monitoring.
  • Collaborate with senior machine learning engineers and data scientists to take ideas from prototype to production.
  • Work closely with product teams to support AI-powered product features.
  • Continue to learn and grow your ML skills with hands-on experience and mentoring.

Who we’re looking for

  • A degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering or a related field. 
  • Some hands-on experience with machine learning, data science or software development projects (through internships, coursework or early professional experience).
  • Familiarity with Python and key ML libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn or PyTorch. 
  • Understanding of machine learning concepts such as regression, classification, or recommender systems.
  • Interest in applying ML to real-world problems like personalised recommendations or user decision models.
  • Good communication skills and a willingness to learn and collaborate with others.
  • Curiosity, problem-solving mindset and enthusiasm for AI technologies.
