About the opportunity

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Specialist will play a crucial role in delivering advanced analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions that directly support the Freight Services insights, pricing and analytics team. Operating under the guidance of the Freight Services Applied Analytics Roadmap, the role contributes to the design and execution of scalable AI and ML-based data products that unlock commercial opportunities, drive automation, and support sustainable operational excellence.

What you'll deliver with us

The AI Specialist will work collaboratively across Freight Services to embed intelligent analytics into core business processes—enabling faster, evidence-based decisions through insight-rich tools. This position contributes to a broader transformation agenda aimed at strengthening data-driven culture, modernising data infrastructure, and positioning Freight Services at the forefront of innovative supply chain solutions. Internally you will work with cloud engineering and AI Engineering teams to build agents. You will also collaborate with the Head of Strategic Business Insights & Analytics, Freight Services GM's, Pricing team whilst reporting into the Senior Manager Business Solutions and Data Transformation. Part of this role involves bringing information together working with applied analytics to embed into workflows and processes. This role does the development, prototyping and guide models to get built into key tools. You'll be given a topic or feature you need to design or define. Through that process you'll work through how we embed that in the best model possible (tool, report or backend process) that uses insights in the right way.

You'll also:

• Partner with the Applied Analytics Lead to translate the Freight Services roadmap into tangible, AI-powered solutions aligned with strategic priorities.
• Identify high-impact AI opportunities across freight operations, pricing, customer fulfilment, and service planning.
• Design and deploy models that enhance forecasting, decision automation, and business scenario simulation.
• Support data product development that enables strategy execution and cross-functional performance improvement.
• Have a strong technical background who has pivoted into consulting or more business facing roles

About you

You will be knowledgeable about potential use cases of AI solutions within business insights teams and be able to take a critical lens on where the most impactful areas to roll out AI solutions are. This role involves prototyping new concepts, functions and new AI capability. You will be using the new python logic tool and AI agents to re-engineer processes that use backend technology. As such we are interested in people who can bring more advanced analytical techniques and tools to support Freight Services and Parcel, Post and E-Commerce business.

You'll also need:

• Experience demonstrating the successful delivery of ML type activities within business environments.
• Previous experience in cloud, software or ML engineering with ability to consult in and present to business stakeholders
• Have strong business and commercial acumen and an ability to communicate to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• An understanding of how to integrate AI solutions across legacy systems with limited flexibility or API access, and an ability to keep pace with evolving generative AAI, agentic AI and analytical AI capabilities.
• Experience working with any major cloud platform (GCP preferred), MCP or any Agentic AI
• Strong negotiation skills with the ability to articulate why your design/solution is a good idea
