The Opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced Software Engineer with Python Developer skills ready to start their career in Industrial AI. You’ll be joining a small, talented team in Perth, working alongside engineers, data scientists, and domain experts to design, prototype, and deploy AI-driven solutions for some of the most challenging asset management problems in industry, while on an attractive remuneration package.

Purpose of the Role
The Software Engineer will join the Secora Garage in Perth to design, develop, and deploy Python-based solutions that support Industrial AI and advanced data analytics for asset management in Natural Resources, Oil & Gas and Defence. This role is ideal for a recent graduate who wants to build a career in industrial applications of AI, working in multidisciplinary teams to create high-impact outcomes.

What You’ll Do
• Develop Python code for data processing, integration, and AI applications.
• Build data pipelines and interfaces to connect operational and enterprise systems.
• Contribute to the design and deployment of AI/ML models into live environments.
• Work in an Agile environment to deliver fast, high-impact prototypes and solutions.

• Improve the performance of complex capital assets for global brands.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to turn ideas into operational results.

What We’re Looking For
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or similar.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Interest in AI/ML and its industrial applications.
• Analytical mindset and problem-solving ability.
• Effective communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Eligible for an Australian Government NV1 Security Clearance (Australian citizenship required).

Key Responsibilities
• Develop clean, efficient, and well-documented Python code for industrial AI and data analytics solutions.
• Build and maintain data processing pipelines and APIs, integrating data from operational, IoT, and enterprise systems.
• Support AI/ML model development, testing, and deployment into live operational environments.
• Participate in rapid prototyping projects and iterative solution design within client sites.
• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, UI/UX and domain specialists to define and implement technical solutions.
• Prepare documentation, technical reports, and deployment guides.
• Contribute to Agile development workflows and participate in team stand-ups, sprints, and retrospectives.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, including data security and Defence contract requirements.

Essential Experience & Skills
• Graduate Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or related field.
• Proficiency in AI/ML concepts and Python programming.
• Understanding of data pipelines, APIs, and database integration.
• Experience with software development in Natural Resources or Oil & Gas.
• Strong problem-solving skills and an analytical mindset.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable Experience & Skills
• Exposure to operational technology (OT), IoT, or industrial control systems.
• Experience with cloud platforms, data engineering tools, or ML frameworks.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum workflows.

Qualifications
• Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or equivalent.

Security Clearance Requirements
• Preferred to be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance at NV1 level.
Eligibility requires Australian citizenship and the ability to satisfy clearance vetting requirements.
