VicRoads is progressing too. In August 2022, we started on a new chapter when the Victorian State Government partnered with Aware Super, Australian Retirement Trust, and Macquarie Asset Management to operate registration and licensing services on its behalf.

We work collaboratively with the Victorian State Government to ensure we fulfill regulatory requirements, deliver State projects and safeguard customer data. The Victorian State Government retains sole responsibility for road access, infrastructure and safety.

Annual salary range: Commensurate with experience

Join a high-impact role at the forefront of pricing innovation as our Data Scientist – Pricing & Demand Optimisation. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of a distinctive and high-value custom licence plate portfolio through advanced analytics and modelling. You'll build cutting-edge pricing science, demand forecasting, and valuation capabilities that directly influence strategic decisions, from dynamic pricing and auction design to identifying premium and collectible assets.

Collaborating across product, finance, digital, and category teams, you'll turn complex data into actionable insights that drive revenue, customer value, and portfolio growth. Working with rich internal datasets alongside external market signals, you'll help establish the foundations for algorithmic pricing in a regulated, high-visibility environment. About you

A commercially savvy Data Scientist with a passion for translating complex data into meaningful pricing and demand insights. You will bring a strong level of experience in building and deploying statistical and machine learning models that inform real business decisions. Comfortable working across large, diverse datasets while maintaining a focus on accuracy, explainability, and governance.

Known for connecting insights to revenue outcomes and influencing stakeholders through clear, compelling storytelling. Thrives in fast-moving, collaborative environments, contributing to innovative solutions that scale. Motivated by growth, both personally and organisationally, with a passion for building future-focused, data-led capabilities in an expanding, high-potential portfolio.

You will bring:

  • 5+ years in pricing, demand modelling, or valuation analytics
  • Advanced capability in statistical and machine learning techniques
  • Experience in dynamic pricing or marketplace environments (desirable)
  • Capability to visually represent complex data sets into simple narratives
  • Strong commercial acumen with a value-driven mindset
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Ability to build scalable, explainable analytical solutions
  • Passion for continuous improvement and data-led decision making
