Position Overview
The AI & Data Governance Officer (ADGO) role sits within the Digital Court Program (DCP) Data team and contributes to the effective operation of AI and data governance arrangements. The role is central to implementing a governance framework to facilitate the Courts, Tribunal and entity's safe and effective adoption of AI in accordance with government policy, and supports the ongoing operation, monitoring and stakeholder engagement with established AI and data governance processes. The ADGO is not involved in approval of AI use cases or in their implementation; those functions are managed by separate stakeholder teams.
As part of the multi-disciplinary Data team, the ADGO collaborates with colleagues across governance, analytical and technical functions, contributing to areas of functional overlap and identifying opportunities to work jointly to achieve shared outcomes.
The focus and responsibilities of the ADGO role will evolve over time, in accordance with changes in the entity's AI and data maturity and broader operating context, and the balance between AI governance and data governance activity will be determined according to strategic priorities and resource demands.
The ADGO role requires a sound grasp of AI and data governance principles, particularly in a government and judicial context, and excellent organisational, stakeholder management and communication skills. The successful candidate will have experience leading the design and implementation of governance activity in a complex operating environment, supported by a deep understanding of administrative, change management, risk and compliance considerations.
