Our Data & AI teams bring this vision to life by designing solutions that empower people, enhance services, and unlock new possibilities. Whether through advanced analytics, visualisation, or machine learning, we help clients reimagine what's possible with AI -and make it real.

As an AI Consultant, you will be at the forefront of designing and delivering AI, ML, and agentic solutions that enable the next wave of digital transformation. This role goes beyond analytics -you will leverage machine learning, generative AI, and coding expertise to create intelligent systems that learn, adapt, and unlock new forms of value. You will work closely with business and technical stakeholders to identify high-impact AI use cases, build prototypes, and scale solutions across the enterprise. From ML models to agentic AI applications, you will help organisations embed AI into their core operations -driving innovation, efficiency, and citizen-centric outcomes in the public sector.

Location: Canberra, Australia

Mandatory Visa Type: Australian Citizen

What You'll Need

  • Qualifications in Data Science, AI/ML, Computer Science, or Software Engineering
  • Proven experience building and deploying machine learning models (e.g., supervised, unsupervised, NLP, computer vision, generative AI)
  • Strong coding skills (Python, R, or similar) with knowledge of ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, etc.)
  • Experience in developing agentic AI solutions or working with orchestration frameworks for autonomous agents
  • Understanding of AI system design, data pipelines, and model lifecycle management
  • Ability to translate business challenges into end-to-end AI solutions - from ideation and prototyping to production deployment
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and their AI/ML service offerings
  • Experience collaborating with data engineers, architects, and industry teams to operationalise AI solutions
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Awareness of responsible AI practices, governance, and ethical considerations, especially in the public sector

  • Structured problem-solving mindset - Ability to work through ambiguity, frame challenges, and contribute to problem-solving in a consulting context.
  • Direct client engagement - Confidence in working with clients, contributing to workshops and discussions, and translating technical findings into clear, business-relevant insights.
  • Consulting behaviours - Adaptability, strong communication, and collaboration skills to work effectively across teams and deliver value in a client-facing environment.
