This role plays a central part in curriculum delivery, course innovation, and supporting student success across undergraduate, postgraduate and higher degree research programs.

You will design and deliver high quality learning experiences that apply a range of pedagogical approaches and technologies. Working closely with colleagues across the discipline, you will develop engaging learning activities, coordinate subjects, ensure academic quality assurance, and provide tailored support to students. You will also contribute to course development and broader school initiatives that strengthen disciplinary excellence.

In addition to teaching, you will undertake independent and collaborative research aligned to the School's strength in data science, machine learning and health-focused AI. You will also take a leading role in our robotics activity, spanning cross-faculty collaboration, physical AI platforms, and our student robotics community. You will create scholarly impact, contribute to competitive grant applications, supervise HDR candidates, and help nurture future academic talent. This position also includes contributions to school governance, engagement with industry and sector partners, and participation in committees that support the School and Faculty.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Deliver high quality lectures, assessments and student support consistent with WSU policy.
  • Develop innovative learning activities and provide effective assessment and feedback.
  • Undertake impactful individual and collaborative research with recognised disciplinary contributions.
  • Lead and contribute to subject coordination, ensuring strong academic quality assurance.
  • Supervise HDR students and support development of emerging researchers.

About You

  • A PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering or a related field.
  • Demonstrated record of high-quality, high-impact research and capacity for research leadership.
  • Proven ability to design, deliver and improve teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
