Director - Cyber Advisory (Data & AI Governance)

Scyne Advisory
Melbourne, VIC
hybrid
Full Time / Permanent

One purpose, one practice

We are public purpose sector specialists who support governments and their agencies, and not-for-profit organisations, to deliver services to Australians, helping to build more resilient, equitable, secure and prosperous communities. We are guided by our values of Stronger Together, Amplify Impact, Build Trusted Relationships, Value Every Person, Think Beyond Limits, and Defined by Ethics.

Our purpose-driven professionals provide clients with access to the skills, capabilities and expertise to support the delivery of government agendas and public purpose projects, with specialist teams across three national practices:

  • Transformation
  • Risk, Programs and Cyber
  • Commercial, Financial and Infrastructure

Cyber & Tech Risk

The mission of our Cyber & Tech Risk (C&TR) practice is to increase public trust and participation in government digital services; a key driver in improving Australia's productivity, equality, resilience, and prosperity. Our subject matter specialists bring scale and expertise across all phases of cyber transformation covering advisory and assurance, AI and data governance, digital identity, technology implementation, and ongoing security operations.

Cyber Advisory

Our Cyber Advisory team help our clients identify, measure and appropriately manage the cyber risks they carry. We translate the complex world of cyber security by assessing weaknesses in defences, develop strategies and roadmaps to drive up maturity, and support with the implementation of people, process and technology changes.

A day in the life of a Data and AI Governance leader in our team ranges from developing new ways to assess and control the explosive growth of AI use in our clients, assisting clients with locating and managing their sprawling data assets, applying both industry recognised and internally developed frameworks for data and AI governance, and getting hands on with metadata and information management tools to detect and control the use of critical data.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Senior Manager to step up into a Director role and grow your business development capability, or for an experienced Director to deepen their market expertise and impact on a larger scale with Scyne.

In this role, you will be focused on:

Demand Generation: You will support the development of a national pipeline of work through proactive business development activities. Lead early positioning with clients via internal audits, and leverage our existing client base nationally to enhance credibility and support shaping client priorities. Co-develop joint plans with a few alliance partners to identify aligned opportunities. Drive early-stage opportunity shaping and co-sell activity with the broader cyber team.

Capability Development: You can refine our current capability, and develop a clear roadmap for future capability, bringing to life the combination of what we want to be known for in Data Governance, compliance & legislation and AI, given the increased complexity across this space. There is the opportunity to carve out your own capability in the market or deepen our existing capabilities.

Delivery Excellence: You will create greater consistency, internal coordination, and scalable ways of delivery. You will own the delivery governance, internal comms, and capability reporting in the Monthly Business Reviews and tracking the business health. Create reusable materials such as blueprints, methodologies and products.

You will create value by:

  • Leading business development activities including proposal development, competitive RFT/RFP responses, cost modelling, and supporting client presentations / demonstrations.
  • Leading client engagements and providing guidance and support to other members of the team in the areas of cyber security assessment and assurance activities.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for cybersecurity, data governance, and AI/ML governance risks.
  • Evaluate and advise on compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Leveraging your advisory and consulting skills set to deliver high quality outcomes to our clients through a combination of hands-on delivery, and regular technical leadership and coaching to more junior members of the team.
  • Managing the budget of client engagements to ensure they are delivered on time and on budget.
  • Managing a team of consultants and providing guidance and mentoring to ensure their professional growth.
  • Supporting the development of new capabilities, products and services based on market demand.

Technically, you will bring to the position:

  • 10+ years of industry experience working with organisations assessing or implementing data and AI governance controls, ideally in a consulting / professional services environment
  • A sound understanding of common data governance and AI governance frameworks used by Australian government organisations.
  • A reasonable understanding of contemporary technologies including networks, hyperscale clouds (Azure, AWS, GCP), common SaaS applications, end user compute, and data and AI tools/platforms.
  • A sound foundation in working with audit standards and frameworks.
  • Strong project management skills and proven ability to lead a team of people in the delivery of medium to complex projects.
  • Additionally we would love it if you have some of the following: Certification as a Certified AI Governance Professional from IAPP, Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or other formal qualifications in Cyber Security, Data and AI, Commerce and/or IT related disciplines. Experience with ACL, PowerBI, or other data analytics software tools.
