SOP Writer (Standard Operating Procedure) - AI-Enabled Technical Writer

The primary objective for this role is the development, continuous improvement, and acceleration of all Freighter Group Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and associated technical/safety documentation. This is achieved by expertly leveraging AI tools and in-house systems to establish a structured, standardised, and highly visual information management system, ensuring compliance with OHS Act and Regulations and aligning with operational excellence deliverables.
Role Accountabilities: Key Responsibilities (AI-Focused Additions)Annual Results & Compliance

• AI-Driven Drafting: Apply prompt engineering skills to guide and generate initial drafts of SOPs using AI writing tools, significantly reducing the time needed for content creation.
• Consult with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) inlcuding engineers and production managers to review, validate, and human-edit AI-generated outputs, ensuring 100% accuracy and alignment with Freighter Group's specific processes and in-house terminology.
• Implement and maintain effective document management and version control mechanisms, integrating AI features to track changes and automate compliance monitoring and alerts.

Operational Excellence & Documentation Design

• Integrate Freighter Group's patented AI SOP Writing Systems: Use AI to quickly extract and structure data from existing internal documents, maintenance logs, or other in-house systems (e.g., ERP, procurement, quality) to ensure SOPs reflect real-time processes.
• Visual SOP Design: Utilise AI-assisted tools (e.g., screen recording automation) to convert textual SOP drafts into engaging, step-by-step visual procedures, improving clarity and comprehension.
• Continuous Improvement: Leverage AI-powered analytics to review user feedback and interaction data, identifying bottlenecks or inefficiencies in current SOPs and recommending refinements for ongoing process optimisation.

• Ensure all SOPs strictly adhere to working knowledge of OH&S legislation and statutory training requirements, and use AI features to monitor and provide instant alerts for expired certifications or policy changes, reducing compliance risk.
• Role model the Freighter Group Values, particularly in the ethical and responsible use of AI tools for data handling and content creation.

Qualifications, Experience, and Competencies (AI-Focused Additions)Technical/Functional Expertise

• Required:
  • Worked in a Manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of Generative AI tools (e.g., large language models) and an understanding of their use and limitations in a corporate environment.
  • Proficiency in prompt engineering for technical documentation creation.
  • Ability to understand complex information and technical jargon, and effectively translate it into clear, concise, and easy-to-understand language.
  • Must have experience in technical writing.
  • Take inititiative to communicate and project plan with the Shift Managers and Supervisors involved in specific manufacturing a processes
• Desirable:
  • Experience with AI-powered documentation/process management software (e.g., Process Street, Whale, Document360).
  • Experience extracting and structuring data from databases or ERP systems.
