In this role, you will provide technical support for the development of novel software tools, databases and processes to realise the Partnership's objectives. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team that generates and integrates genotypic, phenotypic and other genebank‑related data.

Key responsibilities include processing genebank passport and genotype data to build integrated knowledge graphs, and developing interfaces to query those graphs for specific use cases.

You will be highly motivated and have experience developing Python‑ and JavaScript‑based systems to support large‑scale genomics and genebank data workflows. You will have experience designing and querying graph databases such as Neo4j to model complex biological and germplasm relationships, and building user‑driven applications using LLMs, vector search and API integrations to create interfaces that make complex datasets accessible to diverse stakeholders.

You will have strong interpersonal, organisational and communication skills (verbal and written) and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience developing Python and JavaScript-based systems to support large‑scale genomics and genebank data workflows.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with code management and collaborative software-development workflows using Git.
  • Hands‑on experience designing and querying graph databases such as Neo4j to model complex biological and germplasm relationships.
  • Proven ability to build user‑driven applications from the ground up using LLMs, vector search, and API integrations to create user interfaces that make complex datasets accessible to diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to communicate and collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams (e.g. software engineers, data managers, bioinformaticians, researchers), with demonstrated skills in task management, documentation and delivering development milestones on schedule.
  • Desirable: Experience working directly with genebank datasets, including passport, pedigree, and genotype data, and understanding their application in germplasm research.
