About the role:

We are seeking a Data Scientist with machine learning expertise to build and maintain advanced models that drive decision-making within the Coal Mines Insurance (CMI) business unit. You will leverage predictive analytics and ML techniques to uncover insights from complex datasets, optimize operational performance, and support strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, train, and monitor machine learning models to predict claims experience and operational outcomes.
  • Develop and enhance CMI’s agentic AI solutions
  • Continuously improve and upgrade ML models for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Perform predictive analytics and operational forecasting.
  • Collaborate with claims operations to identify data-driven efficiencies.
  • Design and deliver dashboards, metrics, and reporting insights for business planning and performance monitoring.

About you:

Your education, experience and skills will include:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field such as Actuarial, Mathematics, Statistics or Data Science (mandatory)
  • 2+ years’ experience working in a data and analytics role within a complex data environment
  • Experience using Power automate, Power apps and Azure AI foundry
  • Sound organisational skills, project management and ability to prioritise workload
  • A keen focus on automation and technical solutions to operational inefficiencies.
  • Advanced proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
