Senior Architect - Data and AI Engineering

The purpose of our Data and AI practice at Slalom is to build a better future with Data. Through trusted partnerships with our clients, we co-create modern data solutions that drive results and improve the world. What You Will Do

• Work in small, collaborative teams with minimal oversight and direction to design and deliver innovative solutions on Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform using core cloud data warehouse tools, distributed processing engines, event streaming platforms, and other modern data technologies.
• Build the next generation of data platforms and work with some of the most forward-thinking organizations in data and analytics.
• Responsible for understanding the client's current environment and technical challenges as well as their plans for evolving or creating their future state architecture.
• Using your personal experiences, architecture expertise and your consultative skills, you will facilitate working design sessions with Slalom and Client technical teams to drive the strategy, architecture, and implementation of a data engineering solution.
• Effectively describe the pros and cons of your solution design and drive the combined Slalom and client team to a consensus.
• Breaking down complex development tasks and will be responsible for the timely quality completion of development items assigned to you and the development team reporting to you, ensuring that they support the Technical Solution you designed.
• As time allows, you will participate in pre-sales activities including helping define an approach to solving a prospect's technical challenges and helping the business development team estimate and plan projects to address those challenges.

What You Will Bring

• Broad experience in architecture design, a deep expertise in one or more data engineering technologies (listed below), a curious mindset to your client's engagement, a thirst for knowledge, and a hunger for fearless experimentation in new and interesting ways to meet our clients' most pressing data challenges.
• Self-starter mindset and ability to effectively break down large problems into smaller ones and regularly share your learnings within your projects and in the broader Slalom Build community.
• Hands-on experience with modern data platforms and programming languages across a range of technologies that we help our clients with including:
  • Big Data & Lakehouse Platforms* (Databricks, Apache Spark, cloud-native big data services on AWS and Azure)
  • Open Table Formats* (Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake)
  • Cloud Data Warehouses* (Databricks SQL, Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, Azure Synapse Analytics)
  • Data Ingestion & Integration* (Fivetran, dbt, cloud-native ETL/ELT services on AWS and Azure)
  • Programming Languages* (Python, Scala, Java, SQL)
  • NoSQL Databases* (AWS, Azure, and MongoDB offerings)
  • Container Management* (Kubernetes, cloud-native container services on AWS and Azure)
  • Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning* (Databricks ML, MLflow, cloud-native ML services on AWS and Azure)
  • Streaming & Real-Time Analytics* (Databricks Structured Streaming, Apache Kafka, cloud-native streaming services on AWS and Azure)
  • Visual Analytics & BI* (Sigma, Power BI, Tableau, Databricks SQL Dashboards)
  • Modern Data Workflows & Orchestration* (Databricks Workflows, Apache Airflow, dbt, cloud-native orchestration on AWS and Azure)
