The Opportunity:

  • Full-Time | Ongoing contract of employment.
  • $130,000 - $150,000 per annum pro rata + 12% super + leave loading (dependent on qualifications and experience).
  • Chadstone Campus – onsite parking with close proximity to public transport.

The Technology Services Department (TSD) plays a key role in advancing Holmesglen's digital capability, delivering innovative technology solutions that support teaching, learning and business operations. Through a focus on innovation and continuous improvement, the team helps drive organisational excellence and future-ready ways of working across the Institute.

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the AI Strategy & Governance Lead will play a pivotal role in shaping Holmesglen's enterprise-wide approach to artificial intelligence. This newly created role will be responsible for developing and driving the Institute's AI strategy, establishing governance frameworks and guiding the safe, ethical and effective adoption of AI across teaching, learning, student services and corporate operations.

Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the successful candidate will provide strategic leadership on emerging AI opportunities, risks and investment priorities, while influencing decision-making at Executive and Board level. Working across a diverse range of academic and professional services areas, the role will lead organisation-wide AI initiatives, foster innovation, strengthen AI capability and help position Holmesglen at the forefront of responsible AI adoption within the education sector.

As the AI Strategy & Governance Lead, you will:

  • Lead the development and execution of Holmesglen's enterprise-wide AI strategy, roadmap and investment priorities.
  • Establish and drive AI governance frameworks, policies and standards that support safe, ethical and compliant AI adoption across the Institute.
  • Provide strategic oversight of enterprise AI platforms and services, including Microsoft Copilot and emerging AI technologies.
  • Partner with stakeholders across academic and corporate functions to identify and implement AI opportunities that deliver measurable organisational value.
  • Influence AI capability uplift, organisational change and innovation while representing Holmesglen in industry, sector and government forums.

To be successful, you'll have:

  • Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-wide AI, data, advanced analytics or digital transformation initiatives within a complex organisation.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing AI governance frameworks, policies and standards, with an understanding of ethical and regulatory considerations.
  • Strong knowledge of contemporary AI technologies, including generative AI and the Microsoft AI ecosystem, and their application at enterprise scale.
  • Highly developed stakeholder engagement, influencing and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse business areas and senior leadership groups.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in computer science, data science, information technology or a related discipline; postgraduate qualifications and AI-related certifications will be highly regarded.

WWCC and Police Check:

Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining a Victorian 'employee' Working with Children Check, and a valid Police Check within the last 12 months.
