Create your best future and join Westpac as a Senior Manager - Reporting and AI Engineering

What’s the role?

This is a high impact role at the intersection of AI, data engineering, and technology risk. In this role, you’ll help transform how Westpac’s Technology division understands and manages risk, moving beyond static reporting into intelligent, automated, and insight driven solutions.

You’ll design and evolve modern reporting frameworks, engineer scalable data pipelines, and leverage advanced analytics to deliver near real-time insights that power confident decision making at the most senior levels. Working closely with technology, risk, and data teams across the Group, you’ll explore new ways to use automation, AI assisted analytics, and code driven reporting to stay ahead of emerging risks and regulatory expectations.

This fulltime role is based in Sydney, with two days per week in the office to collaborate face-to-face with leaders shaping the future of Technology Risk at Westpac. The pace intensifies in the first week of each month as fresh data lands and insights are rapidly refreshed, perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic, delivery focused environment.

What do I need?

To succeed, you’ll blend hands-on technical capability with strategic thinking and strong stakeholder engagement. You’ll stand out if you bring:

  • Advanced capability in SQL, DAX, and Power BI, with a strong eye for performance, structure, and usability.
  • Experience building and maintaining data pipelines and integrations (ETL/ELT).
  • A proven ability to turn complex data into clear, actionable insights for senior stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with a proactive and collaborative style.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with Azure services, hands-on Python experience in risk or technology environments, and exposure to AI/LLMs (e.g. Copilot or Azure OpenAI).

Why join us?

We’re obsessed with becoming our customers' #1 banking partner for life and we’re looking for people who are passionate about helping us achieve that goal. In return, we’re committed to making Westpac the best place to work in the country. Here are just a few of the ways we’re already doing that:

  • Special offers on banking products and discounts from top brands, including generous employee-only mortgage rates!
  • Flexible work arrangements to help you achieve a greater work/life balance, and a variety of leave options including Culture, Lifestyle and Wellbeing leave.
  • Tailored learning and development opportunities to help your grow your career within the bank.
  • Lots of opportunities to ‘give back’ to the Community by getting involved in our many volunteering initiatives.
