Quality Engineering Lead – Automation & AI - $200,000+ Package - Sydney 
 
Our client is a confidential tier-one financial services organisation undergoing a major digital transformation across cloud platforms, microservices, and AI-enabled engineering. With a strong focus on customer experience, engineering excellence, and innovation, they are heavily investing in automation, artificial intelligence, and delivery capability at scale.

Role Overview
 
We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineering Lead – Automation & AI to drive the adoption of AI-powered testing, intelligent automation, and modern quality engineering practices.
This role blends hands-on technical leadership with strategic innovation. You’ll design and build custom AI-enabled frameworks, embed automation into CI/CD pipelines, and uplift engineering teams in AI-assisted development, secure-by-design practices, and quality maturity.
You will work closely with engineering, platform, and data teams to deliver scalable, intelligent quality solutions across a complex microservices environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and implementation of AI-powered testing solutions, including intelligent test generation and defect prediction.
  • Build and maintain custom automation frameworks and AI utilities using machine learning and agent-based workflows.
  • Integrate automation and AI tooling into CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native environments.
  • Coach squads on prompt engineering, AI-assisted development practices, and automation maturity.
  • Embed security, governance, and responsible AI principles into engineering workflows.
  • Drive innovation initiatives exploring emerging AI technologies and practical enterprise use cases.
  • Collaborate with data science teams to leverage enterprise data platforms and analytics.
Key Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience in senior QA / Quality Engineering leadership roles within enterprise environments.
  • Strong hands-on background in test automation frameworks (e.g. Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, JUnit, etc.).
  • Experience building automation solutions using Java, Python or similar languages.
  • Exposure to or hands-on experience with AI/ML tooling, agent workflows, or intelligent automation.
