About the role

As a Compliance Partner – Technology, Data & AI at Australian Retirement Trust, you'll enable the safe, compliant and responsible use of technology, data and emerging AI capabilities across the organisation. Acting as a trusted advisor, you'll partner closely with technology‑enabled teams to embed compliance into system design, delivery and ongoing operations.

You'll help navigate evolving regulatory expectations across data governance, privacy, cyber risk, outsourcing, automation and AI, translating complex obligations into practical, risk‑based guidance that supports innovation. The role plays a key part in uplifting compliance maturity in fast‑moving, data‑driven environments, working across Line 1 and Line 2 to strengthen controls, address emerging risks and ensure frameworks remain fit‑for‑purpose.

Day to day, you'll:

  • Provide proactive compliance advice to technology, data, digital and AI teams across the lifecycle of initiatives, from design through to implementation and operation
  • Interpret and translate regulatory obligations relating to data, privacy, cyber security, outsourcing, cloud, automation and AI into clear, practical guidance
  • Support the development and maintenance of fit‑for‑purpose compliance plans aligned to technology‑enabled business processes and regulatory expectations
  • Partner with stakeholders to identify, assess and manage technology‑related compliance risks, including emerging and non‑financial risks
  • Contribute to compliance monitoring, reporting and thematic reviews, using data and insights to identify trends and emerging issues
  • Support incident management, remediation and uplift activities following technology‑related breaches, issues or control weaknesses
  • Collaborate with other risk, compliance and regulatory teams to assess the impact of regulatory change on technology, data and AI capabilities
  • Deliver targeted training, awareness and engagement activities to strengthen compliance capability within technology‑focused teams
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of compliance frameworks, tools and processes to ensure they keep pace with evolving technologies and ways of workin

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in Law, Finance, Business, Technology or a related field
  • Significant experience in compliance, legal, or a related area within Technology, Data or AI
  • Strong understanding of compliance management processes, frameworks, and regulatory expectations
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and challenge at senior levels
  • Proven ability to interpret complex regulatory obligations and translate them into practical guidance
  • Collaborative mindset, with experience working across multiple teams and functions
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify risks, trends, and emerging issues
  • Commitment to continuous learning and openness to new ideas and perspectives
  • Adaptable and proactive, thriving in a dynamic and evolving environment
