This is a fixed term, full-time position commencing February 2026 up until April 2027 with possible extension

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Education Officer to provide exceptional educational project support to the WA ClassmAIte project as part of the Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) project. This pivotal role demands a professional with demonstrated teaching expertise and a strong foundational knowledge of curriculum, with a focus on ICT and emerging generative AI technologies.

The Generative AI project is a cross-sectoral pilot that is exploring how AI can be used to reduce workload for teachers when developing lesson plans and classroom materials, through the development of the generative AI platform, WA ClassmAIte.

The Enterprise Governance and Partnerships Division drives high performance at a system level by providing senior leaders with visibility and assurance of system performance and improvement initiatives and confidence in the management of key external partnerships. We do this by:

  • developing and maintaining effective partnerships to support strategic alignment and positive relationships both within and external to the Department, including with higher and international education stakeholders
  • ensuring strategic responses and projects are delivered within expectations underpinned by quality project and program management methodologies
  • improving oversight of high-level strategic priorities and projects through increased visibility and quality assurance
  • aligning governance standards to the strategic significance and complexity of initiatives
  • supporting evidence-based decision making through effective use of intelligence and data.

The Role

As Education Officer, you will assist with supporting quality teaching across Western Australia through the development and delivery of WA ClassmAIte, a cross-sectoral generative AI platform.

Working as part of a diverse team, you will support the design and development work required to ensure WA ClassmAIte provides support for teachers in all learning areas and teaching contexts across Pre-primary to Year 10. This includes planning and facilitating consultation sessions, meetings, workshops and training programs, liaising with schools, and preparing support materials.

You will be adaptable and forward‑thinking, with a deep knowledge of curriculum and pedagogical practice across learning areas and effective teaching practices, including how schools plan for teaching and learning and the contextual considerations that shape classroom practice.

You will bring well-developed analytical and interpretative skills, with the ability to translate complex curriculum and pedagogical information into clear, practical guidance for teachers and confident in applying AI to support high‑quality teaching and learning outcomes, enhance resource development, and data‑informed decision‑making.

You will have the ability to understand, analyse and interpret curriculum, including the structure and the intent of the ways of teaching to inform the development and delivery of high-quality teaching and learning resources and associated guidance within an AI enabled platform.

You will also contribute to reviewing professional learning and curriculum-aligned resources across learning areas for relevance, currency and alignment with evidence-based practice, ensuring teaching and learning resources remain rigorous, inclusive and future-focused.

Applicants that are proficient/using appropriate Gen AI platforms in line with the work requirements are encouraged to apply.
