About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Back-End & AI Engineer to join a global newsroom transformation initiative focused on platform automation and AI-driven solutions. In this role, you'll act as a key technical bridge between a distributed backend engineering team and international stakeholders across multiple regions. You'll work on a modern backend stack built primarily with Node.js and TypeScript, contributing to the design, development, and deployment of scalable services that integrate AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) into production systems. This role has a strong focus on AI enablement, backend reliability, and cross-time-zone collaboration.

Most Important

• 5+ years of backend development experience, ideally in distributed or microservices environments
• Strong expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, and Express.js
• Solid experience with PostgreSQL
• Hands-on experience using LangChain to interface with LLMs
• Proven experience with LLM prompt engineering, including RAG and NLP techniques
• Experience supporting or fine-tuning ML/AI models using Python
• Strong understanding of backend architecture, scalability, and performance
• Experience integrating third-party services and APIs
• Familiarity with Git, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred, AWS acceptable)
• Ability to work asynchronously with senior stakeholders across multiple time zones
• Strong English proficiency (C1–C2 level)

Nice to Have

• Experience with Terraform
• Familiarity with CircleCI
• PHP experience (not required)
• Prior experience integrating third-party AI vendors
• Background in media, publishing, or newsroom-related platforms
• Experience working in startup or GTM-driven environments
