We're about teaching a customer something new and supporting the community. We're about making a difference.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced AI Agent Trainer to design, build and optimise intelligent AI agents that can solve complex business problems. You have built agentic capability in the context of large organisations with large data sets and security requirements. In this hands-on role, you will develop agentic AI systems by designing their reasoning, planning and decision-making capabilities, while shaping behaviours through data curation, fine-tuning and oversight. You'll work in a small, highly collaborative team alongside the AI Integration Engineer and AI Product Innovation Lead to translate strategic opportunities into working prototypes and innovative AI-powered solutions. Your focus will be on building intelligent agents that can interact with tools, data sources and systems to deliver measurable business outcomes and enable the organisation to become a more efficient, high-productivity retailer.

What You'll Do

  • Design and develop agentic AI prototypes and MVPs, focusing on rapid experimentation and proof of concept development, and taking them all the way to production
  • Build and refine AI agents' reasoning, planning and decision-making capabilities, shaping how they operate and respond.
  • Curate datasets and fine-tune models to improve agent behaviour, reliability and performance.
  • Develop tools and APIs that enable AI agents to interact with internal systems, databases, and external services.
  • Implement agent-to-agent communication protocols and orchestrate multi-agent workflows.
  • Build observability and traceability systems to monitor agent decision-making and support debugging and optimisation.
  • Research and experiment with new AI models, agent frameworks and emerging technologies to keep innovation at the forefront.
  • Ensure solutions are designed with performance, scalability, security and ethical guardrails in mind.

About you

You are a highly technical AI engineer who enjoys building intelligent systems from the ground up. You're curious, innovative and comfortable experimenting with emerging technologies while solving complex real-world problems. You thrive in small teams where collaboration, experimentation and rapid iteration drive innovation.

To succeed in this role, you will also bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline
  • Engineering experience with a strong technical portfolio
  • Proven experience designing and implementing AI-agentic systems or machine learning solutions
  • Strong Python programming skills
  • Experience with AI/ML frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, TensorFlow, PyTorch or Scikit-learn
  • Experience building APIs and integrating AI systems with external tools and services
  • Experience working with relational and non-relational databases
  • Expereince would be an advantage with cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud
  • Experience working in innovation, startup, or fast-moving technical environments is highly regarded.
