At PetSure, we're building machine learning capability that improves outcomes for pets, pet parents and our partners. We're looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to help take our AI and ML capability to the next level by designing, deploying and scaling production-grade machine learning solutions.

About the role

Reporting to the ML Solutions Manager, you'll be a hands-on technical leader responsible for developing and delivering machine learning solutions that drive measurable business outcomes. You'll work across the full ML lifecycle, from problem definition and model development through to deployment, monitoring and continuous improvement.

This is not a research-only role. You'll build production-ready solutions that solve real business problems while helping shape PetSure's AI and ML practices.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead end-to-end machine learning development from concept through to production deployment.
• Design, build and optimise ML models and supporting data pipelines.
• Develop predictive analytics solutions that drive commercial and customer outcomes.
• Establish and uplift modelling standards, frameworks and best practice.
• Mentor and support other ML practitioners.
• Partner closely with MLOps Engineers, AI Engineers and business stakeholders.
• Contribute to responsible AI, governance and scalable ML foundations.
• Leverage AI-assisted development practices to accelerate delivery and innovation.

About you

You are an experienced ML Engineer who combines strong technical depth with commercial pragmatism. You'll likely bring:

• 5+ years' experience in machine learning, data science or related disciplines.
• Strong Python and SQL capability.
• Experience developing and deploying production ML systems.
• Expertise across model development, feature engineering, evaluation and optimisation.
• Experience working with cloud-based ML platforms and modern data ecosystems.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• A passion for mentoring and uplifting technical capability.
• Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Statistics or a related discipline.

Highly regarded:

• MLOps experience.
• Experience with LLMs and Generative AI.
• Feature stores, MLflow, experiment tracking or model registries.
• PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Experience in regulated environments such as insurance, financial services or healthcare.
