Job Description

About the Team

Pricing and Performance is a large team and is responsible for solving some of the most exciting and challenging problems for SEEK. You will help shape how jobs are priced and highlighted so more people find the right role, faster and see your work affect millions across APAC. You will join a team of 40 data scientists, engineers, and product managers working across three problem spaces.

About the role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll build and maintain production systems that power many of SEEK's AI-driven products. Your focus will be on engineering excellence, designing robust data pipelines, ensuring system reliability, and creating the infrastructure that enables data scientists to release their models confidently.

You'll work at the intersection of backend engineering and data platforms, solving challenging problems around scale, performance, and system design. This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll ship quality code, mentor teammates, and have real impact on products used by millions across APAC.

Responsibilities

  • Build scalable data and ML infrastructure, design systems that process large-scale data and support ML model deployment, from LLMs to bespoke models built for specialised problems
  • Collaborate with Data Scientists, Product Managers, and Analysts to create impactful solutions in an agile environment
  • Design and define software components that are robust, fault‑tolerant, and built for scalability and performance
  • Take ownership of production services - ensuring reliability, uptime, and key SLAs are met
  • Develop, test, and deliver systems that are high‑quality, secure, and fit for purpose
  • Thrive in a dynamic, fast‑paced team where curiosity and continuous learning drive innovation
  • Champion continuous delivery - removing blockers, improving processes, and enabling your teammates to deliver their best work
  • Strive for technical excellence by balancing fast delivery with long‑term maintainability and platform health
Qualifications

Skills and experience

You don’t need to match our tech stack perfectly, we value your engineering mindset, flexibility, and drive to learn:

  • You have 10+ years of strong backend expertise and a passion for data and machine learning engineering
  • Proficiency in Python and/or Java, with solid software engineering fundamentals
  • Building and maintaining data pipelines and working confidently with SQL
  • Experience with Spark or Databricks for large-scale data processing
  • Hands-on experience in AWS or other cloud environments
  • Strong CI/CD and DevOps practices for robust, automated deployments
  • Designing and operating machine learning pipelines in production
  • Applying secure, testable, and maintainable coding practices while mentoring others on best standards
Additional Information

Permanent Perks
