About the Role (your why)

As part of our consulting practice, you will join a high-performing, passionate team focused on delivering strategic consulting services both internally and to our valued clients. The Consulting Director role is pivotal in shaping business strategy, guiding digital and AI transformation initiatives, and positioning Datacom as a trusted strategic partner in the market. You’ll combine proven consulting frameworks with deep expertise in artificial intelligence to provide tangible value, thought leadership, and direction across a diverse range of projects.

What you’ll do

At the moment, as Consulting Director you will be focused on:

  • Evaluating customers' business needs and supporting them to build compelling business cases for strategic change, shaping and guiding their digital transformation roadmaps.
  • Providing high-value AI and transformational consulting, coaching, and workshop services for Datacom teams and customers, bringing proven methodologies and deep expertise.
  • Partnering with – and leading – Datacom’s technical delivery teams to ensure strategic outcomes are achieved alongside enabling people and process adoption.
  • Leading the preparation of major sales proposals and bids.
  • Authoring and publishing thought leadership content to promote Datacom’s position in the market.
  • Leading and guiding at-risk projects to successful outcomes.
  • Leading and managing a team within a specific practice area, driving performance against KPIs and managing revenue targets.

We are a pretty agile company, and are keen to respond to customer, technology and internal stakeholders’ changing requirements – this can mean we evolve in our roles to meet those needs.

What you’ll bring

Required experience:

  • 10 years experience in consultant in at least two areas of Datacom’s critical consulting specialities (e.g., Software Product Development, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, etc coupled with strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Experience across at least 3 different roles within Product Development (Engineering, Program Management, Quality, Security, Operations, Product Management, etc)
  • Experience in planning, developing, maintaining, managing and administering technology systems, security policies, and procedures to ensure optimal operating conditions Track record of participation in community building or volunteering outside work.
  • Extensive experience within a software development organization
  • Proven track record delivering projects on IaaS/public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Experience in Software Product Operations teams (SOC, SRE, DevOps, etc.), focused on reliability, security, and performance.
  • Strong understanding of broad business issues and financial acumen, with experience across public and private sector clients.
  • Strong financial management practices with a clear understanding of the relationship between costs, utilisation and project revenue.
  • Expertise in delivering digital transformation projects within highly regulated industries, and/or while complying with externally defined standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, Science, Engineering, Economics or a related discipline.
  • At least (1) Professional Certification in area of Consulting Expertise

 

Nice to have:

  • Management experience in a global leading technology company
  • Capable of handling challenging interpersonal situations internally and externally tactfully and respectfully
  • Strong capability to handle emergency or high-pressure scenarios while remaining calm and collected
  • Demonstrated track record of driving organizational change using data-driven approach
  • Experience in planning, organising, directing, controlling and coordinating advertising, public relations, sales and marketing activities
