About the Role
The Research Data Specialist (AI/ML) sits within the eResearch portfolio at UTS IT unit and the National Coordination Business Unit at ARDC (Australian Research Data Commons) to support the ARDC’s strategic objectives.

The AI Specialist will make a critical contribution to designing, developing, and deploying artificial intelligence and machine learning methods and solutions to solve complex problems and optimise business processes. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, gather data, build and train models, and implement solutions to enhance products, services, and operations.
This position is expected to drive change in an uncertain and highly dynamic, complex, competitive and global research and educational environment. It requires engagement and partnering with diverse groups of stakeholders in research-focussed environments and effective influencing of, and communication with, key stakeholders in cross disciplinary settings and across a broad range of research areas. The incumbent must maintain a keen proactive focus on contemporary issues related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) and apply this knowledge to develop innovative strategies and solutions.
About You
• Excellent communication, including the ability to prepare documentation for various audiences, present, and to liaise, advise and negotiate at various levels.
• Sound organisational and time management skills, including the ability to set priorities and perform well under pressure within a complex and changing environment.
• Experience with successfully engaging with a diverse group of stakeholders within and across institutions, research facilities and/or research groups.
• Knowledge of and experience with technologies and solutions that support data analysis, storage and publication, for example cloud computing solutions and research platforms and tools, with a particular focus on thought leadership, support, and promotion of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
• Significant relevant experience working in a research environment and a thorough understanding of the research process.

Remuneration/Salary
Base Salary Range: $140,965 to $147,678 pa (HEW 9)
This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary.
