The Opportunity

The Databricks Platform Engineer will play a critical role in managing and optimising the Databricks Lakehouse platform across Seven West Media's data and AI ecosystem.

Working within the Data & Growth team, you'll ensure the platform is secure, scalable, and high-performing, enabling data engineering, machine learning, and real-time analytics across the business.

What you'll do:

  • Administer and optimise the Databricks Lakehouse platform (clusters, jobs, workspaces)
  • Manage governance including Unity Catalog, data lineage, and access controls
  • Implement security models (RBAC/ABAC) and support identity integrations
  • Drive performance and cost optimisation (autoscaling, monitoring, FinOps)
  • Support data, ML, and analytics teams across platform usage
  • Implement CI/CD, automation, and DevOps best practices
  • Act as the key liaison with Databricks and external partners
  • Ensure compliance with governance, security, and regulatory standards
  • Maintain documentation and support onboarding/training of users
  • Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team environment

What you'll bring:

  • Hands-on experience administering Databricks (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Strong knowledge of Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, Spark, and DBSQL
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, Scala, or Bash
  • Experience with Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure-as-Code
  • Solid understanding of cloud security, networking, and governance
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience in requirements gathering and presentations
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Databricks or cloud certifications (preferred)
