About Rhino Partners / Get AI Ready
Rhino Partners Limited, trading as Get AI Ready, is a specialist artificial intelligence, data science and digital transformation consultancy delivering enterprise-grade machine learning, analytics and AI solutions for Australian and international clients. Our clients span healthcare, financial services, energy infrastructure, telecommunications, insurance, retail and government sectors across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.
We are a recognised Databricks delivery partner and are currently developing one of Australia's first grounded clinical LLM-RAG applications supporting General Practitioners, Primary Health Networks and government-medical stakeholders.
We are seeking a Lead AI Scientist to lead complex applied AI and data science engagements across our expanding portfolio.
Why This Position Exists
Our client portfolio has expanded significantly across Australia and APAC, with multiple concurrent programmes spanning regulated healthcare AI, energy infrastructure, banking and financial services, telecommunications and government sectors.
These engagements require a senior practitioner capable of independently leading end-to-end AI delivery, deploying and governing production ML and Generative AI systems, managing cross-jurisdiction data obligations, and advising senior executives and government stakeholders.
This role is not a general analyst, BI developer, data engineer or junior machine learning position. It requires demonstrated expertise across the full lifecycle of enterprise AI delivery.
Operational Context
The Lead AI Scientist will operate across multiple concurrent engagements involving diverse stakeholder groups, differing data environments and varying regulatory obligations. The role requires the ability to balance strategic advisory responsibilities with hands-on technical delivery while maintaining consistent standards of governance, quality and client engagement across projects.
Given the breadth of responsibilities and the pace of delivery expected within a growing consultancy environment, the position requires an individual who can work autonomously, exercise sound professional judgement and provide technical leadership throughout the full lifecycle of enterprise AI initiatives.
About the Role
This senior specialist role requires advanced capability across:
- Statistical modelling and machine learning development
- Data quality governance and anomaly identification
- Production MLOps, monitoring and model lifecycle management
- Executive insight development and stakeholder advisory
- Applied Generative AI, LLM and RAG design and deployment
- Data privacy and responsible AI governance
- Cross-sector enterprise delivery across APAC markets
Key Responsibilities
Analytics and Modelling
- Design, develop, validate and deploy advanced analytical solutions using statistical and machine learning techniques including ensemble models, deep learning, anomaly detection and forecasting.
- Conduct exploratory analysis, feature engineering, experimentation and predictive modelling using Python, SQL, Spark and related technologies.
- Develop and optimise production data pipelines and datasets across Databricks and major cloud platforms.
Data Quality and Governance
- Identify and resolve data anomalies, outliers and quality issues across large, heterogeneous datasets.
- Implement drift monitoring, quality controls and production integrity checks to maintain analytical standards and model reliability.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and governance requirements.
Stakeholder Advisory
- Translate analytical outputs into actionable recommendations for executives, boards, government stakeholders and technical teams.
- Lead workshops to define business problems, validate approaches and align success measures.
- Develop reports, visualisations and technical artefacts supporting decision-making and knowledge sharing.
Model Lifecycle Management
- Establish and maintain MLOps frameworks supporting reproducible and governed deployment.
- Monitor models for performance degradation, bias and changing business requirements, directing retraining and recalibration where necessary.
- Maintain audit-ready governance documentation consistent with responsible AI obligations.
Strategy and Innovation
- Partner with senior stakeholders to define AI strategy, identify opportunities and prioritise investment.
- Lead the design and delivery of production LLM/RAG applications and other advanced AI solutions.
- Support proposals, technical advisory activities and representation in industry and client forums.
Leadership
- Lead and mentor data scientists, ML engineers and analytics consultants.
- Drive best practices in privacy, explainability, bias testing and analytical risk management.
Essential Skills and Experience
The successful candidate must demonstrate:
Experience
- Minimum seven years' progressive full-time experience in data science, machine learning and applied AI.
- Hands-on experience developing, deploying and monitoring production machine learning systems.
- Experience applying statistical and predictive techniques to enterprise datasets and addressing production data anomalies.
- Demonstrated capability reviewing and adjusting deployed models through lifecycle governance processes.
Enterprise Delivery
- Experience delivering AI solutions across at least three sectors including healthcare, banking, telecommunications, energy, insurance, retail or government.
- Experience implementing production Generative AI, LLM or RAG systems within regulated environments.
Technical Capability
- Advanced Databricks experience, including MLflow, Delta Live Tables, feature stores and related MLOps capabilities.
- Experience across at least two major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
- Strong proficiency in Python, SQL and machine learning frameworks including scikit-learn, TensorFlow or PyTorch.
Governance
- Experience operating under the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) and at least one additional international privacy framework such as GDPR or PDPA.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Experience advising executive, board-level or government stakeholders and communicating complex analytical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree or higher in data science, computer science, software engineering, artificial intelligence, statistics, mathematics, engineering, business analytics or a related discipline.
Highly Regarded Experience
- Regulated healthcare AI or clinical decision-support systems.
- Predictive maintenance solutions using IoT and time-series data.
- Databricks enterprise MLOps delivery experience.
- APAC multi-market delivery experience.
- Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field.
- Published applied AI research or technical papers.
- Leadership of data science teams.
- Responsible AI, explainability and fairness testing experience.
What We Offer
- Senior leadership position within a growing AI consultancy.
- Exposure to frontier AI work across regulated industries.
- Competitive remuneration of AUD 180,000–200,000 plus superannuation.
- Employer-sponsored visa arrangements may be available for suitably qualified candidates.
